What is a Feasibility Study?
A Corridor Feasibility Study allows staff to catalogue as many constraints and opportunities as possible along a given corridor. In this case, consultants are focusing on:
Coming out of this study, staff expect to recommend “Preferred Alternatives,” which offer a high-level concept view that best balances all of these factors. The study is currently underway and is not yet complete.
Why study 7th Street?
7th Street offers direct access to many institutions, businesses, and residents. It is the only corridor that continuously connects the Riverfront Trail to north of I-70 and is also the most popular route to access Las Colonias and the Riverfront Trail.
7th street also rated high and medium priority for the creation of safer sidewalk and cycling facilities in the Pedestrian & Bicycle Plan. It is represented on the High Injury Network due to a history of crashes impacting Active Transportation users.
What are preferred alternatives?
Preferred alternatives are options for new street layouts. You can expect that these will have safer pedestrian crossings, separated bicycle facilities, minimized impact to existing landscaping and street trees, while still meeting vehicular demand.
Will community members be able to provide feedback on the preferred alternatives?
Yes! Community members can engage with this site's tools to provide feedback regarding the concept visuals.
What are the next steps for the project?
City staff will review the current concept visuals presented to various community members and stakeholders. Staff will assess the concepts and identify opportunities where sections need to be revisited.
A comprehensive review of the concepts, feedback, and recommendations will be presented to City Council in Feb. 2025.
