I walked 7th to Tope from Bunting as a child when it was one lane each way. I returned as a retiree in the year 2000. I was surprised to see the city getting a 'green' award for it's canopy. With the erosion of trees on the corridor North to Patterson it is becoming ugly. The city should consider providing irrigation water to these properties. xeriscape ok, but keep the trees.
Also, the street could be made safer by making curbed left turn lanes , including modifying the curbing in the North to Grand section accordingly. I have seen bikes start their left turn in the middle of a seventh street and a cross street, with backed up cars being screened causing an unsafe condition, especially for bikes.

I was born & raised right here in Grand Junction at St. Mary's hospital & I have lived in the same house all my 57 years right off 7th street. It is a historical site/street & I really hope the city will take in consideration to leave it as it is & not turn it in like 4th & 5th streets are now. It's a shame that it's an option to do so. They already did 1st, 4th & 5th streets as they wanted. I think it will take not only away the beauty of the historic homes of 7th street but also one of the centers long lasting pieces of what Grand Junction is! It is a much easier access for many who live right downtown getting to Las Colonias, Main Street & St. Mary's Hospital etc...on 7th. I hope the city will reconsider on not turning it in to another traffic stall/backed up cluster as the other streets I mentioned. If anything, do a roundabout at 7th & Grand since there is not a turning lane going east on 7th!

I see that I missed earlier opportunities to have input on the 7th Street Active Transportation plan, but am hoping to have future opportunities. I hope that when 7th street improvements to make it safer for pedestrians and bicyclists along 7th Street are considered, the area of 7th Street (26 1/2 Road) between Patterson and Horizon Drive is also considered. That section of the road is like a motor speedway and there seems to be no enforcement of speeding or noise ordinances. I know because I live at the Village Cooperative, 621 26 1/2 Road. Please do whatever you can to slow the traffic down along that stretch of road. It is dangerous!
