Ruins quality of life for downtown historic neighborhoods
I live on a major downtown street that has lined bike lanes in both directions which are rarely used by the scooters. Instead they come flying down the sidewalks rarely looking anywhere but straight ahead and often with earbuds blocking anyone even trying to say something to them. It is terrifying for an elderly resident who uses a walking stick to try and do yard work in their front yard or on parkway because they are suddenly just upon you as you backup or turn around as there is no noise to warn one. I've had several scooters just dumped in my yard or walk to my door and twice have had my doorbell rung to see a scooter dumped in walk and teen running off laughing so these are used to prank innocent homeowners. These scooters are very heavy to pick up and move which is a health threat to the homeowner and if and when someone shows up after calling the company they have argued with me about setting it up and wanting to leave in front of my house to wait for someone who might want to ride it like I have no rights for safety. Get these horrible things out of what used to be valued historic and well cared for neighborhoods which are paying significant taxes for homes they have improved.
