Will the city repeat their mistake?

I sure hope the city does not make the same "improvements" to 7th like they did to 4th and 5th. 7th street is now the last decent road to get to the downtown area. With 4th and 5th no longer a good option to take, driving around the downtown corridor would be the only other option. Fewer cars driving by means fewer customers. The harder the city makes it to get to the downtown area the fewer the people will want to go down there. If I had my business on main street, I would be looking for another location asap!

Please do not treat 7th Street like you have 4th and 5th.  As a result of the "improvements" on those 2 streets, the traffic on 7th has increased significantly.  I also notice an increase on 12th.  Decreasing traffic flow in any way on 7th would be a disaster.

It seems to me you are systematically eliminating all the good traffic options, for anyone entering Grand Junction from the south. Travel would be restricted on all north bound arteries, 1st 5th 7th and 12th. My 50 years of experience driving in large and small towns,  is " more traffic more lanes". So I m living south of town, and thinking: skip the downtown mess, and use Ute and Pitkin. I know parking is tough downtown on weekends,  maybe that will change 🤔.
