GET INVOLVED!

Are you looking for a better way to get around Grand Junction?

Carshare may be able to help with your transportation needs if you:

  • Struggle to get to work, appointments, or the grocery store
  • Reliant on friends or loved ones for rides
  • Cancel or postpone trips due to bad weather
  • Interested in reducing the number of vehicles in their household
  • Spend a significant amount of income on transportation

Carshare can fill gaps in travel needs

Despite many of our communities being vehicle-centric, we do not all drive private motor vehicles. Many of our residents need choices as transportation costs continue to rise—some spend more on transportation than they do on housing! This can really add up. It is a burden and can result in difficult decisions to downsize to only one vehicle or the inability to afford a new one. We also have community members who are dependent upon active transportation (walking, biking), transit, or carpooling. These modes can be a challenge for long-distance travel, during inclement weather, or when friends and family members are not available.

How will it work?

There are many different options for how a Carshare program can work and are working to identify the best one for our community. That is why your input is needed. The first step toward simplifying the transportation puzzle is to learn about challenges and struggles the community faces when traveling around Grand Junction to get to work, services, and recreation. The city will gather and analyze data feedback from community members and key stakeholders. If Carshare provides solutions to travel challenges, the City will consider a recommendation for a pilot implementation strategy possibly for 2025 or 2026. Electric Vehicles will be considered for the carshare fleet to support emission reduction and air quality benefits.

Funding and Partnership

To better understand the challenges of traveling throughout the City and the region (especially for those without reliable vehicle access), this project is in partnership with the Colorado Energy Office to participate in the Community Accelerated Mobility Program (CAMP) with additional funding support from Colorado’s Community Access Enterprise.
